The whole 'A youkai would disappear if he is forgotten' won't imply that 'A youkai is created from a mass of feelings', usually fear? As in, if a lot of people believe that certain place is cursed or filled with youkai, youkai will pop from that place eventually.

From where that thing is? Generic Japanese mythology? Shinto? Budhism? Because i see that concept quite frequently, not only in touhou.
