Here's Satoko saying exactly what I said. Also Mei shows Satoko being happy with Rika just being with her, and this matches Satoko's claim that Rika was just acting to blend in with the ladies.

I understand, but I'm not sure what your point in bringing this up is. Yes, Rika does different things, but that was my point from the beginning, how if Rika had simply stayed with Satoko, things would have turned out fine.

"Harder" is a comparative term, Satoko using it means that the effort used to get into school is not as much as the effort to keep the good grades. There's nothing strange about failing grades, not only does school get harder as time goes on, but so does fatigue from the higher studying expectations.
