Rance's whole thing is survival. If he can help living, he will. Death is only for fools and the weak. One outburst of "I dun' wanna die" doesn't destroy an entire body of work. And if you read the thing, he also stopped thinking about dying when he looked at the face of the girl about to kill him.

Sex > Probability of Death to him, after all.

He's not disgusting, because they do keep on saying in the games that he's fairly good-looking. He's not cowardly but would rather not do a lot of shit because it's troublesome. And he'd rather not die meaninglessly. It's like you've only played this one single Rance game and based everything on that one single scene.

Rance has more of a chance fucking Saber than Gilgamesh ever had because while they are both egomaniacs, Rance has more leeway.
