There are a bunch of TIPs in the fourth arc that are told from the prespective of Rika's mom, and it talks about she has a love-hate relationship with her daughter (very similar to Rosa and Maria) because she finds Rika creepy as fuck and detached from reality.

Saikoroshi goes in detail about how Hanyuu basically destroyed Rika's respect for her parents and made her feel nothing about her deaths. But even before the world-jumping bullshit started, she already ruined Rika's relationship with her mother by taking her place and teaching her all sorts of things since she was little, stealing all their mother-daughter bonding moments.

There is an entire TIP about the mom went with Rika to a school party or whatever and Rika just sat there, bored by everything. I assume this is after she had already grown tired of repeating the same life over and over again. Every time she tried to bond with her daughter by teaching her something, she already knew about it because of Hanyuu. And when she was a little kid, she would talk about this "Hanyuu" character as if she was just another member of the family. It's really creepy and worrying behavior if you look at it from her mother's perspective.

I think it's a very interesting relationship reminiscent of the Rosa/Maria one, but it's completely skipped over in the anime and forgotten by even the VN readers for some reason. I think it's a very important aspect of Rika's character, her main "sin" and the reason for Hanyuu's guilt. It also makes her mother an interesting Rosa-like character, at least when it comes to the way she feels about her kid.

Didn't Ryukishi confirm that all his characters are actors playing different roles? Battler/Butler, Rika/Bern, Satoshi/Sakutaro/Sakunoshin, Natsuhi/Julie, Satoko/Lambda/Meryl, Akihito/Akihito, Okamura-kun/Nonomiya Takeshi... There are some other Rika lookalikes, but they are obviously different actors who just look similar.

That would make the All-Cast-Review sessions in Higurashi the highest level of meta, followed by the sea of fragments, the Umineko metaworld (which seems to be a relatively small cluster of Rokkenjima-related worlds) and finally the individual parallel worlds.

This is pretty mind-blowing. And yes, the canon version of the story, which is the VN, clearly shows that Satoko's actress (Satoko) got butt naked in the third arc and played her role passionately despite being so young. She is incredibly talented.
