To a degree, but some people actually believed it. There's a completely false fanfic thats been accepted as the truth regarding a couple of vtubers, thats kinda hard to explain, but the point is that they went into "the enemies thread" to spread it and just got met with confusion, because it was roughly "vtuber A at one company got vtuber B fired, then because B got fired vtuber C at another company got fired as B and C were close friends, thus it's the A's fault". The problem is A didn't cause B to retire, B is one of the maybe 5 vtubers out of thousands who went on and explicitly said who they were after their debut and marked it up to essentially not wanting to be an entertainer, just a musician, but then went into a block and decided to call it quits, being found by her new producer and moving on as a singer. A couple weeks after B said this in their tweet, C did a stream vaguely talking about how close she was with B, and then dropped the bomb of "B was forcibly retired", which was kinda proof they never actually talked as someone else who isn't a vtuber and thus doesn't get a letter had been hinting at it since before B's statement that she was going through a really rough creative block. On top of the fact that B and C have never actually talked before. Then C went into her (C's) upcoming debut and said some bad things about both companies, which later was the direct cause to her getting fired within weeks, because as it turns out, shitting on a company you're recruited into in a public space is a bad idea!

Does this confuse you? Because it also confused me when I saw it happen.
tl;dr Some of these people unironically believe in this "them versus us" mentality, and it's scary how that kinda shit festers and grows into something unbelievable. Of course there's still falseflagging, but don't write even half of it off as just that.
