Anyway when it comes to fanon vs canon, I feel like there are some who take the official manga too seriously; they don't realize these are meant to tell a story and shouldn't be taken at face value when it comes to characterization. Hell, the whole cutesokyo vs grimsokyo debacle is an egregious example of retards not realizing canon Gensokyo dances between both based on the situation.
At the end of the day even ZUN prioritizes getting his ideas across rather than maintaining a strict canon, and sometimes contradicts himself to do so. Even in the printworks character personalities and motivations shift to fit the story. This is nothing new, but I feel like a lot of people choose to forget it.
