I should also point out that Memoirs of a Geisha is an extremely inaccurate portrayal of the geisha world.

Haha, they do not. The maiko (the three girls on the right) wear okobo, a type of shoe made from light wood so it's easy to walk in. They have little bells in a carved slot underneat the sole of the shoe. It's a symbol of their innocence and childishness as well as inexperience. Geisha do not wear them as they are too mature.

Yes. For St. Patrick's Day in London there was a parade and geisha were invited to attend as a thank you or some shit. I don't know, I'm not from London. The cost was probably pretty expensive.
