And yes OP they do buy the manga and the DVD/BDs even if they're like $70-80 for two episodes, because there are enough rich otaku in Japan who'd buy it at any feasable price (if it's good enough) to make it profitable. The best way to get around it is to just promote the merchandise associated with it. If we could download statues, various thematic little tchochkes, dakimakura etc, we would.. but we can't, so those must be bought.
