Without breaking stride and with the upmost grace Eirin continued talking as she strode to a specific drawer on the wall length cabinet, “The procedure will be non-invasive, it’ll entail a realignment of your qi at all major energy centers throughout your muscle tissue and nervous system”

Opening a drawer, she pulled open out a long and thin wooden box about the length of her forearm and about as thick. Walking back to her desk, she stated, “Of course such a procedure won’t cause any change to your temperaments nor elemental alignments that are normally associated with such operations. Thanks to the princess’s help and the use of her powers any chances are failure are nullified.”

Eirin taps on a small button on her desk as she then walks over to Hana, “Even with such assurances the manipulation of the instant can’t change the base reality of the situation and while I have received test results back of your affinity, regretfully my dataset on the children of outsiders and natives are lacking and you may not have anything able to bring out. Do you understand?”

Hana understood almost none of it, but a subconscious desire to not look like a fool in front of the princess made her lie, “I understand, doctor” Hana said with a nod.

Eirin raised an eyebrow but merely said, “Very well” and Kaguya started stepping to the door without a word. As if on queue Reisen stepped through the door, “The psychotropics are already measured out Eirin-sensei, we have the chambers prepared as well”

Getting the distinct feeling she should be following along Hana quickly rose to her feet and trotted off after the trio of women who passed silently by Reisen, Hana herself ignored Reisen entirely. If it bothered Reisen, and Hana hoped it did, she didn’t show it as she followed them down the side paths behind the double doors labeled ‘staff only’ and out of eyesight of any patients and most inaba nurses. Hana was led to a smaller room down another hallway, it was sitting behind a pair of sliding wooden doors Hana noted seemed to be enchanted in some way.

The room itself was unremarkable, the only curiosities being a large magical circle on the ground with long candle holders around it at certain points holding rather fragrant candles that were already burning. In the center of the circle was a padded table with a hole on one. The circle itself was way more advanced than Hana had ever seen under Marisa’s tutelage.

She received no explanation on this, as everyone filtered in Hana milled by the doorway trying to be out of the way of anyone. Eirin motioned for her to stand in a small corner by a generic looking table, “Strip” was the word that came out of the doctor’s mouth.

Hana vaguely made some sound of confusion, as she glanced around the faces of those assembled. Reisen had already taken her customary position by the doorway feigning disinterest as she stared into space. Kaguya had gone and found a seat behind the candles as she placed one graceful leg over another. Eirin had simply met Hana’s eyes with her analytical stare, “this will require access to your bare skin, it is a necessity”

Hana muttered something about, ’starting with that first’ as she undressed and placed her clothes neatly upon the table in front of her. It felt a little weird undressing around others outside the setting of the public bath.

Eirin had already moved on by the time she realized Hana was moving to obey her instructions, placing the box on a small section of the table as she revealed two rows of long needles in the box along with a small bottle on the side resting inside an indent on the velvet cloth. As Hana approached the table Eirin produced a small pill in her hand out of one of her many pockets, “Please swallow this medication and get on the table, Undonge will provide water if you need it.”

Hana took the pill after an, ‘I’m fine’ and swallowed it down, it was really bitter but like her father often told her ‘the best medicines taste the worst’. She climbed the table as well as she could to preserve her modesty, she still felt like a fool though and under Eirin’s instructions she lay on her belly, her face resting on the rim of the hole on the end of the table.

Eirin spoke again as she applied an oil to Hana’s back causing her to squirm from the chill of the liquid, “the psychoactive effects of the drug are relatively mild; however, it will force you to enter into a trance like state. During that time, I’ll complete the operation and with the help of the princess we’ll be finished before the effects wear off. Any questions Hakurei-san?”

Psycho…what? Her father said that word before… something to do with the mind? What did she swallow?! “Erm… how long will it take for this drug to kick in and how lon-“

Answering quickly Eirin wasted little time in replying, “Now, for 4 hours”

Hana wanted to ask something else, or even react to being cut off in conversation, but as she tried lifting her head to ask the world swam.
