Speaking of which, I always found it surprisingly easy to self-insert when playing Tsukihime. Unlike many other protags, Shiki is a great avatar for the player (if the player is a normal guy, that's is). He's not a cartoonish autist like Shirou, nor is he mentally retarded like every other harem protag. He's just a chill guy with a somewhat snarky attitude, he doesn't drop his spaghetti when Arc asks him to sleep with her because she's having nightmares, he enjoys having fun with his bro Arihiko, etc. It's really easy to put yourself in his shoes.
