Like the entirety of the US population dying all at once? Because by 1942 the US massively outproduces japan and unless every battle the US gets into is a massive failure they would just produce ships and planes until they win.

That would probably only make Japan run out of ships faster, as by 1943 the US has a bunch of shiny new ships with new technology and Japan is using 30 year old battleships as its main force.

It would also help if you trained more carrier based pilots and had more carrier planes/carriers to operate. But I suppose picking a war with a country 10 times your size isn't the best idea either.
