Ever considered getting a dog?

I'd love to be nostalgic with Ran.
Just loaf around on the veranda at sunset with a bottle of good wine and talk about the good old days, back when people believed and feared the creatures of folklore, back when things were simpler and people still believed in legendary heroes going around conquering monsters, and the legends of old were present day and not just nearly forgotten myths.
And Ran would mercilessly break down that nostalgia sentence by sentence by reminding me there really were no good old days, at least not for humans to have. There was only the period flavour of the usual stuff, with arbitrary silly customs, headless politics, war, starvation and occasional plague.
Then we'd laugh it off, pour another glass and repeat.

And really, that's just fine - everyone has their preferences.
