visual kei used to be more rebellious and had more male public in the early days, acts like Buck-Tick, D'erlanger and X had lots of male fans.
Eventually it became more stereotyped and girls dominated the scene (in terms of public, ironically there's very very few actual female musicians).
But no, there's a lot of great visual kei stuff.

if you like malice mizer you might like babylon, I tought they were one of the most interesting visual kei bands of recent times, they disbanded a while ago though
