Really I just wanted an extended version of the bad ending from the original, the point being wossisname the MC deliberately chooses to stay in the dreamworld, giving up on reality because he'd rather be with Maia instead.

Kimi ni Okuru, Sora no Hana had something very similar and I loved it, that kind of thing pushes all my buttons in all the right ways. Something about stories where you choose to fuck everything up forever because you just love something/someone so much. It works real well in visual novels since you the reader get to actually make that decision. But it's harder to find those than it feels like it should be.

Instead they went for the boring morally correct 'you've matured as a person' ending.

I kinda wish more eroge would let me embrace my ダメダメ nature. Well, without slipping into the usual corruption/degradation nukige genre that is.

Plus Maia was objectively perfect and a miracle of the universe and I just wanted more of that.
