did tactics ogre get a shitty rewrite like final fantasy tactics? I downloaded the game a while ago but I've been putting off playing it until I finish the n64 one.

while the japs can do western fantasy reasonably well, eastern fantasy written by westerners always seems to fall short. settings like hyrule or ivalice are in line with what you would expect from western developers, but settings like rokugan or kamigawa give the sense that they were definitely made by westerners. I attribute this to lack of familiarity. jap developers probably come in contact with western fantasy concepts a lot more than western developers see eastern fantasy.

am I being overly sensative or does anyone else feel this way too? if you were responsible for making a generic japan inspired fantasy setting what would it be like?
