When writing about Ikuchi, the Leviathan-like yokai, is 生口 the proper spelling in Japanese? I cannot find a definitive answer for the life of me. It's also called Ayakashi, but I'd rather use Ikuchi because it refers to a specific sea serpent.

the japanese yokai is so unclear as to what they really are. They're can be demons, ghosts, goblins (pretty much any species non-human in the physical realm), humans turned super natural, and something altogether inbetween. It makes ot quite hard to figure out what you are about to go up against in battle or what exactly are you moral boarders if a Yokai woman falls in love with you.
