I saw the Fate/EXTRA special edition at a Gamestop for cheap, decided I liked the art and bought it on a whim. I played through it once with Nero which was fine, but then when I started my playthrough with Archer I noticed he was making a lot of vague references to events I was ignorant about. So I looked up the franchise, found out about the VN, stopped mid-playthrough, read it and everything fell into place from there.
