Although... I think R07 messed up with Umineko's ages from the start. It's clear he really put no thought into how the often huge age gaps would affect character relationships before 86. The manga shows this clearly when George is portrayed as around Jessica's age in flashbacks when he should look pretty much like he does in 86 already due to the 5 years difference (putting Shannon aside since her disguise is a mess of its own).

I think R07 didn't realize it though. George is 5 years older than Battler, 4 years older than Sayo. So, when you have these flashbacks where George is portrayed as part of their group years ago (with them being 13/14 while George is 18) and in love with Shannon things look odd during their earlier ages.

Even the manga seemed to completely ignore the age difference in flashbacks, showing George as looking about as old as Shannon and Jessica when he should look noticeably older than them (and closer to his 86 self) at that point.
