Sogna did not evolve.

Allow me to elaborate. As some of you old VN gamers might now, 90-95 was dominated by nukiges. Fuckfests with little to no plot whatsoever, focused on unavoidable fuck. Some companies realized that people were starting to get tired of this formula, so porn-with-plot games started to be developed (Read: DOUKYUUSEI).

Sogna, however, did very little to adapt. By the time it started to notice their games did not sell, and add some plot to their games, it was already too late.

This is why Sogna died. They died because they sucked, not piracy.
