Pekora is actually the one IRL gay for Miko. She wanted to do a hardcore yuri-pandering event but management declined, not wanting two of their fastest-growing talents to become solely defined by the ship, which would thus overshadow all their other collab opportunities. Miko agreed with management. Pekora meltdown was in part about going against the shipper character arc that she herself was interested in (hence "not giving back to the fans") but also due to feeling betrayed/abandoned by Miko. This is also why Miko has never shown outward coldness, at most awkwardness, toward Pekora in the last year despite the supposed rift of them, with Pekora's behavior mainly fueling the narratives, as she was the one who turned Pekora down and not vice-versa.

People often think Miko is the personally invested one in PekoMiko since she tends to engage in it more actively than the latter, but I've always had suspicions about Pekora. Pekora is the type that is more passive about it because she actually takes it seriously on a certain level, whereas Miko is likely the type that flirts easily without meaning it. Pekora has also done PekoMiko stuff long after she surpassed Miko, which according to interpretations of her as a cold and antisocial type that's uncomfortable with it, could have simply stopped long before the incident, once it wasn't a major part of her channel anymore. She was reserved about the release and success about Daisensou, did she not like working with Miko? Unlikely, they've worked together for many years, and not just when it was successful, that song could be considered a major milestone in their lives. Particularly strange was that she did a watchalong of Bohemian Rhapsody- a film about the world's most famous gay musician- the night Daisensou was released.

Realized from her own easy success that effort or conduct don't actually matter much at all compared to luck and design and thus can't internally justify putting more into the job. She clearly acts out at times but it doesn't actually do anything in the long term. She has done literally nothing but is going to be 1m soon and gets lots of supacha the once in a blue moon she feels like collecting. Meanwhile she watches her coworkers work their asses off while failing to surpass her. Even if some do, she can't be sure whether it's their work paying off or just that they were one of the lucky ones. Rather than a superiority complex, it's more like she's sinking into a vortex of futility and disillusionment, unsure of why anyone aught to do anything. She's basically the antithesis to the workaholic idol mentality where how much you get is based on how much you put in.
