Are there any actually decent parallel texts out there?

The only two in the CoR both suck for different reasons. One of them ("Read Real Japanese") isn't really parallel text; Instead of giving a full English translation of the Japanese text, it has the Japanese text on one page, then breaks the Japanese down into arbitrary chunks which it translates on the other page, so you never get a translation of a full sentence. The other one ("Breaking into Japanese Literature") was translated by some pretentious wanker who adds words into the translation which were never actually used in the original text in order to "encourage you to think about word choices and style" and "echo the lushness of nineteenth-century authors" (meanwhile he laughably claims that his translations are literal).
