The love body are quite prone to leaks, which are tedious to repair. Of course if you go all out with them and fill them with cotton or whatever, it might be worth it, but I've only had bad experiences with the ones I owned.

They are a bit less practical than love bodies while less prone to leaks (because less seams). It's a different experience, and not really suited for a quick go. bar soap is slightly basic, but that shouldn't be a problem.
If it worries you, use shower gel, but god help you if you use those men scented shower gel.
A gentle bar soap works just fine, as said, exposure time is too short to cause any damage, unless you do a really poor job at rinsing it out.
