/jp/ - Otaku Culture

ITT: We post the third picture from our Touhou folder.

I've got a problem /jp/ and I'll say it right now - this isn't a help me learn Japanese thread.

So I've recently began to learn the Japanese language and while in public I thought it might be good for me to try to read a book in Japanese so I could get that little bit of extra practice everyday. Now I have a friend. This friend doesn't know I like anime, visual novels, anything weeaboo I hide my powerlevel from him. Anyway, we were talking about our classes and he's like how are your classes and I'm like the Japanese class is pretty easy but I don't know where to find Japanese books. That's when everything went down the shitter. This guy I've known for years that has never shown any interest in /jp/ shit tells me that I should read "Japanese comics like this one called Naruto". I did the best I could to act like I had never heard of it and I just nodded my head and went along with whatever vomit he was spewing. So I'm thinking how hard it would be for me to reveal my powerlevel and now my friend has done just that, but I don't want to embarrass him and tell him he has shit taste, nor do I want to admit that I've been keeping my powerlevel a secret from him for all the time I've known him.

What do I do /jp/? Ignore it and pray he doesn't bring it up again while risking that he might give me narutard shit one day or should I blow my powerlevel full force and have him see the true path of the otaku?
