Yuko and the rest of the Kami 7 were much closer to her in popularity than SKE/NMB members are to J/S though. Even then it took a while for AKB to settle after Acchan left.

but couldn't you say Sasshi helped keep HKT relatively stable? They've always had less sales than SKE/NMB due to location (Osaka and Nagoya are the 2nd and 3rd biggest metros in Japan) but didn't experience too much of a drop in the last few years whereas SKE/NMB sales plummeted.by nearly half in the same time frame.

What would be the alternative then. Even if they are the focus of attention at least those two draw attention to the groups as a whole and increase the chance of people becoming fans of other members. There's no guarantee that giving them the boot will allow the rest of the members to flourish immediately.

At least Jurina's votes have still been consistently rising even if it has been minimal between 2016-17, which could possibly be fans not going all out knowing she can't beat Sasshi or a last-SSK buffed Mayuyu last year. I wouldn't be surprised if she passes 120k votes this year.

In the meantime Akari (next highest SKE) actually dropped in votes by 5k whilst Nao/Akane gained substantial votes. Its safe to say that the members' individual growths aren't tied down to Jurina's

If you are going by this year's RH every group except NGT was an abject failure.
