You know /jp/, religion is about the resolution of existential crises.

It answers questions like

do our sufferings have meaning?

is there life after death?

is there final justice?

Those aren't stupid questions and people aren't stupid for turning to spirituality for answers.

They reject spirituality but they don't treat it condescendingly, because they know those questions are extremely important to some people, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Oh, you fucking bet I've been chastising myself for it. That was seriously the worst, worst, worst mistake I've ever made in my entire life.

Even worse than trying to take an extremely difficult subject and focusing on it to the exclusion of everything else and failing 4 out of 6 college courses as a result. Even worse than when I told everyone in middle school how I jerked off my dog and describing it in graphical detail. Even worse than driving the car with a flat replacement tire across the entire city and on the cobblestones of my college's parking lot. Even worse than one time I started shunning people who didn't have my exact same tastes. Even worse than taking a job at which I was an absolute klutz.

No mistake I've ever done in my entire life will ever be as colossal, stupid and terrible as blowing my one chance of finding true love. None. I think I've even been afraid from dating entirely due to this one mistake.
