It is a mystery why Shinki would give some of her daughters clearly western names like Alice or Louise, while giving others like Yuki or Yumeko clearly Japanese names. And then there's Sariel and Elis to complicate things further. It could be that Makai itself was less like some internally consistent project of Shinki's that she meticulously planned for years before creating it, and more like something that kind of formed as she worked on it without any clear overarching plan or theme, with her adding whatever she thought was cool at any particular point in time.
