I personally haven't played AH3 aside from the PC arcade rip for a bit, because I don't own a PS3, but I've only heard good things about the chasing mechanic and it definitely sounds like it could work for touhou.

Would EX Yuuka (and all the other hatless characters) just have a new silly hat?

And as far as I can tell there aren't very many long stylish combos, limit is good mechanic to... limit that. The longest combos I've seen take advantage of specific weathers that allow the combo to be extended, but thats gimmicky at best.
