Interesting, I have the completely opposite opinion. I liked the new art and music better, although the original was great in its own way too, but didn't like the remake's changes to the text at all. Look how cute the original's scenes were.

Ok, so after doing Aqua's scene in both the original and the remake, here is my thoughts.

The original is infinitely better. There are good VNs without sex scenes and there are well-developed romance stories without porn. But Himawari was not made to be one of them. So with the original, you have the classic, beautiful development of their relationship, slowly growing closer, both physically and emotionally, learning to trust and to love each other, and culminating in a sex scene as they give themselves entirely to each other. Fantastically done.

Now, the remake doesn't really rewrite the scenes so much as butcher them. Instead of cutting the scene entirely and writing in something thematically fitting and equally powerful, they literally copy and paste it over, chainsaw out the explicitly lewd parts, violently bash the other lines into the round hole that is an all-ages VN scene, and call it a finished work. It's not just あああああ's which were cut, mind you, there is some beautifully written, heartfelt dialogue in the middle of that scene that was dropped, while much of the rest was copied and pasted into the new scenes. This means, of course, that it doesn't quite feel right, doesn't quite make sense, doesn't flow naturally like this passionate intercourse, verbally, emotionally and sexually, is supposed to. It's almost comical, reading the same lines twice, literally the exact same wording and sentences, but with singular nouns swapped out to turn a lewd conversation, which makes perfect sense when naked in bed after passionate sex, into something that doesn't.

Anyway, I'm very glad I chose to read the proper version alongside it.
