I've never agreed with the danmaku system actually supposing to have settled anything. It just doesn't correspond to the abilities that many Touhous have been given. For example ex-Keine should be able to re-write Reimu out of history. Hell, normal Keine could do that if she wanted to because it was apparent she wasn't powerful enough to resist Keine's magic (Yukari could overpower it, though).

Or maybe we've all been grossly overestimating the extent of Touhou power levels the whole time. It's kind of hard to -not- think of them as practically DBZ powerful though, when Youmu is canonically described as being able to slash at 1/4th light speed, Komachi can directly pull out souls, Suika repeatedly generates micro-black holes etc... Perhaps one of these days Zun should clarify that Reimu is practically a god, because she must be in order to go up against such youkai.

Reimu's more badass than any of them, considering she's beaten all the supposedly badass ones.
