I've always been fascinated by the idea of yukkuri abuse and why it's so common. They have simple bodies so "gore" featuring them can easily be drawn without extensive knowledge of their anatomy, and it makes them seem very vulnerable and exploitable. Their perceived hubris and mannerisms make them easily to hate, and they represent no currently living thing so writing abuse stories for them doesn't make you look quuiite as deranged as someone who would write an abuse story for other animals. They are simply the perfect targets for our the deep dark urges we never knew we had.
