>desire to end politics forever
Politics exists whenever there is a dispute over resources or the ordering of society, and people are unwilling to go to war to resolve the dispute.
Utopias where these disputes don't exist are pure mirages; they will never exist regardless of how many farms you collectivize or mentally disabled people you forcefully sterilize.
Why spend your time spreading the whatever-you-believe-in gospel when, at best, you might win over an insignificant number of people to your views? You could have spent all of that time bettering your own life by learning a new language, getting /fit/, or writing the fabled sekistory. You're as likely to win the Powerball [or whatever they call the national lottery of your country] as you are to become the next great philosopher activist-king that rescues the Republic and restores it to greatness etc. etc.
That's the point I was trying to make: you can't stop the storm from rolling in, so why bother trying anyway and getting blown into the sea, unnoticed by everyone else, when you can save yourself by taking action to improve your own standing in the world?
