There is good fanfiction and bad fanfiction...lots and lots of bad fanfiction, but thanks to the Internet we are subjected to everyone's horrid, typo-riddled, poorly-thought-out work.

Fanfiction can sometimes be better than the source material itself, but like everything else, you must dig through a massive pile of shit to get to the diamonds.

These things can easily be avoided if you have a critical audience on hand to let you know your weak points in writing, steady practice, and proper tutelage in the arts of writing.

I have no less than one hundred books on the subject, all of which delve deeply into writing with style, proper punctuation and grammatical use in the English language, form and structure, how to plan out and organize your thoughts into a readable format instead of vomiting words onto the computer, and other such things.

Writing is a large and exhaustive undertaking, like any other art. I have been unable to really sit down and write lately, which is a bad thing. I have probably grown horribly rusty.

The thing is, I have no critical audience who can tell me why my stories suck, instead of just saying SHITSUCKS LOLOL. It'd be nice if someone identified the weak points, such as if my characters weren't evoking much empathy from the readers, a lack of conflict or interest...you get the idea.

I should join a writing forum and get the fuck off of 4chan.
