Should I purchase a Japanese PS3 so I can play im@s 2 and Japanese VNs for the PS2. Or should I buy an American PS3 so I can play im@s 2 and other American release games for PS2 and then a separate Japanese PS2 for VNs?

I'm not sure what's the best advantage. It would help to know what American release games are worth owning an American PS2 for that I can't easily get for a Japanese PS2 I suppose. I don't want to regret having one if I realize there's PS2 games I want to buy.

My Japanese is ... ok. Having a system for VNs would be pretty cool and an American PS3 won't play Japanese PS2 games.
