Ads don't cost much anymore and they only used it for their Rettoujoutou video, AFAIK. It's smart investment. Look how many new fans they got from it and how much their channel blew up since then, and they're still going strong. If their content doesn't decline, and I don't think it will, they're probably going to reach the kings in couple of months.

That's only an issue for channels with shit content. If you got good content then ads just help you get your name out and reach a new audience faster.
