Well, one of the problems with the drawing is that lips don't have such contrast black outline, it makes the character to look like fish especially well.
I was doing this mistake myself infinitely until I recently tried to copy some photos from fashion mag. Then it quickly came down to me, that you will do better with just shading instead of contours in most cases.
I guess drawing realistic stuff helps if you have absolutely no clue on how to draw. Yes, it will be ugly. But, on the other hand, if you didn't get how to put mouth on the face, trying to copy reality will allow to understand it faster. Maybe.
