it's a problem with smartphones and 4chan. smarthones include orientation data in the file (because you rotate them back and forth) but 4chan strips these files to how the sensor originally captured it (prevents doxxing, data like gps is originally embedded). if you flip the file 90 degrees the phone it just rewrites the orientation data which is why it always looks "right" phone but never uploads upright no matter what you do. If you rotate it to something arbitrary like 1 degree, it's forced to re-render the image.
