There is a new magic circle on Jessica's room, looking fresher than the other three. Rosa, now armed with a gun like Natushi and Eva, gets Genji to open the door with a master key. Natushi wonders if there will be another chain lock, but there isn't one. They find Shannon's corpse on the floor, with a stake piecred in her heart. Unlike the previous corpses, she's not drenched in blood, but she is still covered in wounds, suggesting that she was struggling against someone with a sharp object. Battler's legs feel weak, his eyesight goes blurry and his stomach flips, unable to get himself to look inside the room. He wonders if following her could have saved her life, further spiralling down to believe that he was stupid for sleeping soundly as his family was murdered.
