When I feel intense depression, I just hug my pillow (it doesn't even have an anime picture on it or nothing, it's just plain) and think about how the pillow appreciates being hugged. Then that makes me happy because I'm making something else happy. I think the key to happiness is making who you like happy.

Pretty much anything as long as the combination of frequencies are pleasurable to listen to and such.

But I think my most favorite is game music due to the sheer variety present (the artists for those don't really stick to one genre of music). Plus sometimes their modern music sound straight out of the past which is kinda cool:
