lower right, papa yotsuba is saying something along the lines of 'so daro', I know what daro means but what is 'so' in this sentence?

and what are long vertical lines in mangas? they dont really follow the same rules as the small tsu.

is papa saying Sooooooo......darooooo......?

Can anyone here give me some good online resources for Japanese, especially the kana and kanji? I'm still at the point where this entirely indecipherable except for a sneaking suspicion that a few extended syllables of wonderment are being expressed.

It will be a while before RAW manga makes sense...
