The kid deploy screen, or whatever the terminology they're using here is.

This is fairly simple, but since I had no idea what I was doing I already managed to fuck myself over.

As you advance, you may get several things. The relevant three are treasure chests, miasma (or whatever the dark clouds are), and sheep.

Sheep have a timer and will explode when it runs out, dealing 1 damage to Yukari.
Miasma has a percent chance to create one of those tapir-like creatures I'm overwhelmed with in >>10312281. This chance goes up every turn, capping at 99%.
Treasure chests have a timer. If you don't collect them within the timer, you lose out on the loot.

There is no way for your characters to interact with these features, and they block your movement. Instead, you need to deploy a kid.

Each of these three needs one of the specific kid types. Treasure chests need yellow, sheep red, miasma blue. It's color coded to make it easy.

Deploying a kid costs experience. They can take a number of hits, either 1, 2, 3, or 4. A kid that can survive more hits will cost more exp. You can only have one kid of each type out at a time.
Once deployed, the kid will blindly advance ahead if it is able to. You cannot control its movement, and it always moves straight, so make sure you get the correct lane.

The other thing that can emerge with the shifting map is a gap. Click on the gap to select a new map to go to. Then bring the required number of characters to the gap. This will take those characters to a new map, that fortunately does not have the wind. They will be as damaged as they were when they entered the map, so don't send in a bunch of nearly dead characters just because they were close.

In the map you will fight a bunch of monsters. Higher level maps mean stronger monsters. I've only fought one, but the monsters healed fully each round; don't know if that was specific to the SDM map I visited or not.

That's about all I know that's worthwhile.
