The only reason I spent over 5k resources each on E2 was that I was running 4 BBs and 2 CVs with the compass refusing to comply with me for my last needed run. Not only that but I had no battle support fleet running. Just imagine having to repair for over 1k metal every few sorties. Not exactly a great feeling. If you have some destroyers and light cruisers to throw into the fray go ahead and do so. Just beware of the enemy BB.
