My point was that without the massive popularity of the Netflix adaption, they would likely never have pushed to it the point where the show needed to go off the rails just to keep the money flowing and then had to be ended in such a retarded way.
But they were greedy, wanted more profits and now the fandom has paid the price, while the most of fans brought in by the TV series have moved on to the next thing to consume.

Shit like this always happens as soon as a marketing department finds something that is high quality enough to be made palatable for the masses.
But maybe Vocaliod isn't in that much danger since a lot of people here in the west seem to be allergic to Miku's and friends' voices.
