/vp/ can you please post some early concept art, and maybe more of those delicious watercolour illustrations from the good old days?

I feel out of touch with the clean, sci-fi thing they're going for now.

We had a nice thread about Pokemon a week or so ago.

Thank you to the Anons who recommended I read the manga. It's really good, and fits a lot more with the vibe I got from Pokemon as a kid.

God damn, this is cool.

I know it's largely nostalgia, but looking at the earlier games and concept art and all those awesome watercolor paintings (seriously, fuck the later, "cleaner" art), it feels like a lot of what made Pokemon Pokemon has changed. Like starting with Gold/Silver and culminating in Ruby/Sapphire onwards, the Pokemon world was more shaped by the other media and other people and taken in a less "humble" direction. I can't really explain it, so maybe I'm just mad.

How are the Pokemon SPECIAL manga, by the way? Didn't Satoshi Tajiri say they were the most accurate portrayal of how he envisioned Pokemon?
