Good characters and great music as the game goes on. Plot is fine, but it does take a while to get developed. Everything else is as you say (though I personally enjoy the 2D). All of this goes for both games in the series, so if you dislike one you'll probably dislike the other.

I dislike the battle sytem in both games though. That's my only big complaint with the series really! I'll happily take an AT3 if it happens though.
