>I just feel like I wasted so much of my life reading this POS soap opera trying to interpret so many things, reading so many theories.
Now imagine being one of the fags that read Umineko whilst it was being released, and from the beginning to boot (meaning you spent 3-4 years reading and re-reading the VN, reading theories and making your own, trying to make sense of the Epitaph, watching the crappy anime for clues, reading the manga adaptations, amongst other things).
As someone who read it back then, I actually find it funny how the rankings of the episodes differ greatly from 2010 to this day. Nowadays, you see plenty of fags here rating EP8 and EP6 highly, but back then people hated everything post-EP5 to pieces, especially EP6 (EP7 was tolerated as long as you considered it a stand-alone story). That makes me think that, of course, people who spent years reading this shit, thinking and putting plenty of effort into it were going to have a different opinion compared to the people who could read it all at once (which still involves some effort considering how lengthy Umineko can get, but still nowhere near the effort fans put into it back in the day).

I honestly really enjoyed the story from EP1 to EP4 (even EP5), and to be honest I liked it quite a lot. I used to read some detective novels before Umineko, but Umineko turned me into a Golden Age aficionado. That being said, the main thing I liked about Umineko, even above the mystery, was Beatrice. Of course, back in the day you would have thought that, in the end, she would be the embodiment of the mystery, but alas. But anyway, two things that made me really bitter about Umineko was how the Beato from EP1-4 died in EP5 and never really came back (which, yeah, I suppose was meant to match how Battler was "dead" for several years, but then he came back, but even them he wasn't really the same person, but honestly I couldn't care less), but even more than that, what really made me sad was how there was no actual Rokkenjima counterpart for Beato, because in terms of both looks and personality Yasu was essentially Shannon, and Beatrice was closer to a power fantasy of hers, rather than her actual personality or even an aspect of it. You could say both things "killed" my love for Umineko.
