I had chat working in the past but after upgrading to a 1.68 I was getting [0]You require an internet connection. I fixed it by copying the server.txt file from 1.66. This worked despite the two files having identical contents. Initially the nonworking identical file contained a space before the url. This combined with the fact many (all?) people need to delete server.txt to get chat working at all, I'm inclined to believe the game caches the contents of server.txt and only refreshes when a new file is detected for some reason.
