This becomes less of an issue if (you) are actually strong, as in sufficiently M o t i v a t e d and have common sense—by Gensokyo standards—to the level you can be trusted with performing Ran's role. Of course this makes you all the more desirable to the cretins, you're no longer some trophy husband piece of meat they can dump chore responsibility to, you can bring power to their household or clan. Perhaps that would make Ran, and by extension Yukari more covetous of you and keep a short leash, or they'd let you have free reign since you can take care of yourself.

As for cheating, it brings up a question since she herself was an animal. Foxes mate for life, but she'd be aware of the rules of natural law which favors the strong. Would Ran be possessive of you as a husband and tell you with no uncertain terms that you are hers and only hers (exceptions like Yukari and Chen notwithstanding)? Or would she indulge in the law of beasts and let you sow your seed where you please as is your privilege? In the former case it's a traditional marriage, intimacy of any kind is sacred and cherished between you two. In the latter only your heart and bond with her matters, as long as you love only her you're free to rack up conquests.

Yeah, the game was crusty and I never finished it, but not sure what you're on about with a shipper. Gameplay aside, the art is cool and I liked the alternate outfit designs. The VAs were nice too if a bit corny; Ran's death scream in particular is pretty funny and stuck with me.
