I still use a 7 system (among others) that I never installed the telemetry or nag packages on and when they switched how updates were delivered I only install Group B securityonly updates. I do a shitload of work on that box so I am not really trying to be a ghost anyway. I don't use 10 as much so I just use anti-beacon and a few other spykillers that I shut off when it needs updates. I just turn on every option on the killers and watch as the system has problems doing pretty much anything.
