I am always attempting to make the movement between the knight of resignation towards the knight of faith, as described by Kierkegaard.

The knight of resignation is someone who understands the princess is someone he can never have, yet loves her and is so moved by this love he resigns himself to love her in the next life as well.
The knight of faith understands common logic, but holds something to be higher than logic and makes the movement to the absurd "I will have the princess, she is mine" and though understanding his position is illogical, believes in power beyond that.

The knight of faith is the ultimate state of spiritual being. It is not dogma, but faith tested by putting something higher than logic and even morality. For instance Abraham when he swung his knife down in a movement to kill his son Isaac was a knight of faith. So was Jesus, the ultimate aspirational man.

The world is absurd, when you stop to consider everything that happens as it does it you are forced to understand even the absurdity of consciousness itself. Why can't Rika exist? And why must there be one Rika? Even in her story as told by Ryukishi there are both Furude Rika and Bernkastel, two yet one, and many worlds with many different endings and many different Rika. And Bernkastel even reaches out to the reader at one point brushing up against the wall of fiction.

tl;dr with full acknowledgement of it's absurdity, I yet have faith in Rika's existence because I fell in love with her in an absurd world.

As for why it would be me out of anyone I pray in my own way to the Bernkastel aspect of her, to take my feelings to Rika, and my prayers have been answered in their own way.
