i had some banter with a fishmonger when i was trespassing in a no-gaijin area of tsukiji market at 4am a while ago. i was the only gaijin there and drunk so i walked up to this guy sharpening his knives and there was a massive fish next to him and i was like 自分で切ったの？ (retarded question obviously) and he corrected me to 下ろす but then said my japanese was 上手 and i was like 切ったってたのに and he gave me a big smile and i took a pic at that moment
